You want me to take that hammer and do what with it??

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."  Abraham Lincoln.

Chisholm has managed his Africa Construction projects by the applications of several simple principles that he learned from his father, his religious training, and his studies.  The first and most important principle is to treat everyone with respect.  He also always likes to quote and try to follow the ideals of two men,  Andrew Carnegie and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Emerson said "Every man is my superior in some way.  In that I learn from him."

Carnegie is reported to have said that he wanted put on his tombstone, "Here lies a man who was smart enough to employ people smarter than he was."
